About

Skin care shouldn’t depend on where you live.

EpivaScan is building a simple way to get a first read on a skin concern, for the many people who can’t easily reach a dermatologist.

Mission

Make the first step easier.

Most skin conditions can be treated once someone recognises them. The hard part is often the very first step: knowing what you might be looking at, and whether it needs attention now.

EpivaScan is designed for that step. Take a photo, see which conditions it most closely matches, and carry that information to a clinician.

It is a tool for the person who is already there — a community health worker, a nurse, a family member — and never a replacement for a doctor.

Principles

How we’re building it.

Clear, not clinical

Plain percentages and plain language that anyone can read without training.

Honest about limits

We say what the model can’t do as plainly as what it can, and plan to publish how it performs.

Photos are health data

A picture of someone’s skin is personal. Privacy is a design requirement from the start.

Built for the field

Made for a phone in someone’s hand, in places where specialists are far away.

Team

The people behind EpivaScan.

Questions

Good things to ask.

Does EpivaScan diagnose skin disease?

No. It shows which conditions a photo most closely resembles, with a percentage for each. That is a starting point for a conversation with a health professional, who makes the diagnosis.

Can I use it today?

EpivaScan is still in development. The web demo shows the interface, but the AI model isn’t connected yet, so it can’t analyse photos.

Which conditions will it recognise?

The list is being finalised with the model and will be published on the model page.

What happens to my photo?

In the current web demo your photo stays in your browser and is never uploaded. A full privacy policy will be published before the model goes live.

Does it work on a computer as well as a phone?

Yes. EpivaScan is designed for phones first and also runs in a web browser on a laptop or desktop.
